I' m much more concerned with a couple of punks with knives deciding to carve me up in a parking lot - or some asshole road raging and deciding he needs to get out and beat somebody up.
I carry a gun for the same reason I wear a seatbelt - or a life jacket on a boat. I' m not afraid of crashing or sinking - but I am prepared should it happen.
I think the ratio of possibility of harm to possibility of good does recommend the wearing of seat belt or life jacket as suitable comparisons for the wearing of a gun.
And I think you are free to make that assessment and be gun free.
You do it your way - I'll do it mine.
