The statement is not talking about good people, the statement was talking about "little" people as defined only by their religion. 

Are you sure? How do you get that from the statement? It looks very much as if it's the writer's opinion that these people are "little," made from his own perspective, not that of the religion.

Nope, not joking. I'm not sure why important to you should mean important to me, unless you really like looking down on people and judging. (pompous?)
