The Top Ten Least Religious States

Massachusetts is tied with Maine for third place. Big Grin

For those members in the US, how religious is your state based on this article?

Hmmm, that gives me a good idea. I'm going to compare the statistics from my blog to those results, and see if the numbers match (i.e are more people coming to my site from non-religious states).

I notice Rhode Island is in there. I learned in a paper quiz only this week that it is the smallest state. Apart from making a bad joke about whether size matters, I wonder if it really might be a factor in this case?

Naw, it's location. The Northeast, aka New England is entirely represented in the top 10 for least religious. So the 6 New England states are Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine. Interestingly enough the Northwest is also not very religious.

I would wonder if it has more of a correllation with Population density.

Comparing the population maps with the religion one it seems the most densely populated states lean towards the least religious. Not always but I think it's interesting to note.

Florida is average, which is where I live. But I'm really from NJ and I think that NJ was not that religious. Either way, I miss living up north, there's much more tolerance. I hate Florida.

Definitely. I used to hate living in Boston and wanted to move to California. But now that I'm old enough to appreciate things like political atmosphere I've come to love Boston. Being in the first state to allow Gay Marriage makes me proud. Big Grin
