I never cease to be amazed at the lengths to which people will go to justify hitting children.

Oh, dear..That wasn't in reference to me, was it? 

Because I thought made I it clear that wasn't actually a proponent of spanking children. I only stated that I recognize that there are extenuating circumstances where parents' may deem spanking necessary as a sub-optimal choice when reasonable attempts at non-corporal discipline fail IF a kid's behavior puts himself or others risk...And that I'm not willing label them child abusers for that.

If you'd like for me to adopt an absolutist approach to spanking and immediately regard anyone who's so much popped their kid's hand for trying reach inside a hot oven as a vicious child abuser, I'm sorry but can't do that. I think such a blanket assessment would be wildly unfair.
