They've never had anything worth taking. No precious natural resources (no more than anywhere else, anyway), no real strategic value in occupying that land, difficult to get in and out of compared to other countries around it because of the mountains. If it had anything worth having, it would have had its shit ruined long ago.
ON TOPIC: I'm not against war.
It has a lot of money owned/stolen by the ultra rich. Plus it's a very nice vacaton spot. There's two good reasons there to invade.
