If the other side isn't interested, then all that's going to happen is them pulling the democrats to the right. And Obama proved that this republican party isn't interested. Now maybe Bernie can get some voters to swing his way, but the politicians won't move to the left unless they're forced. So no, there shouldn't be anyone reaching across the ailse, except to drag someone to the left, or get someone to the left of them elected in their place.
He doesn't need to make friends with any establishment. He shouldn't. He can work from the bully pulpit. Any democrat that doesn't fall in line gets primaried, and if he has the voter support, he can get in new people that do like him. And if he gets a super majority, then hopefully he'll actually use it, unlike Obama, who wanted to make friends and compromise, when he didn't have to, because the dems had the potus, house, and senate. The only people he needs, are the voters. And we like him.
