If people were "prepping" - rather than consuming - they'd realize that generator failure, rather than grid failure, is the real emergency.
I can tell you know nothing about what is involved.
I can go 6 months on my own power. And that is if I don't leave the farm to look for more gas.
My batteries will last for years. I use the same batteries as my cars - and they get replaced with new every couple of years. They are always kept charge by a solar panel. I have 200 amp chargers to quick charge them off the generator.
My water supply - I have gravity tanks (including a winter use tank - inside a heated garage) that I can fill from my well - so I don't even need to run the generator every day.
Any schmuck can shiver in the dark - hungry and cold.
