Ad populum is not supported here because this for most people is not a blind belief or faith. in fact most have stories or instances that support and fuel what they understand to be true. ad populum is based on what people simply wish or want to be true despite any evidence.

If 96% of the world said the ocean is blue because they literally saw the ocean and it's color and 4% said it is more of a green seeing the same ocean, then the 96% becomes the control while the 4% would become the variable... the question why do they only see green.

The ocean can in fact be green ,brown ,black ,even red (depending on what were defining as the ocean) So the 4% can be right .Unfortunately for you your silly god believe has no were near the same evidence as a blue ocean which is why no one seriously denies the ocean is majority blue  .So another conflation .
