I honestly don't get the hand wringing and excusing.  There's nothing that trumpits wouldn't accept from this admin...there's no point in pretending his head is screwed on.  If he were on camera wandering around the rose garden, naked, propositioning shrubs...that would be fine.

That's easy. It's the battered spouse syndrome. They can't believe he's that bad, so he must not be that bad.
