Police are, themselves, the victim of institutional and systemic racism. A good person with the best of intentions joins the police force....and then... somehow... manages to effect the same outcomes as the klansman who joined to beat heads.
It's not about the individuals, not even the racist ones. We're simply willing to use those racists as sacrificial offerings in order to maintain the institutional and systemic injustice which produces those outcomes.
