I suck at quotes so here goes:
YOU: THEN WHATS THE POINT OF LIVING??
ME: There really isn't some grand point but I like beer, playing with my children, hanging out with my wife, basically living is enjoyable to me. Reality is entertaining and the fact that it is extremely open world with emergent gameplay doesn't bother me much.
YOU: Why do we care so much when people die??
ME: Because we loved them, we have memories with them. The same reason religious people care so much even though those people are apparently in the great orgasm in the sky.
YOU: If our lives mean nothing then why is it worth living?
ME: It is like a movie; they are fun to watch even though they end.
YOU: Wouldn't it be less exhausting to just cease to exist?
ME: Yes, and even if you hold a worldview that there is a wonderful afterlife that would be MORE of a reason to snuff it early!
YOU: Why have children when you know they're going to die anyway?
ME: Well, going back to a movie analogy, you know movies end but you really want to make another one to see how it will unfold. I have three children, one of which I begat proper, and it has given me a lot of enjoyment watching them develop into greater functioning people.
