OP, the issue is that the factors involved are multiple and isn't just simply gender only. This does not mean that gender itself isn't subconsciously or otherwise playing a role.
Femicide does not mean a woman was killed because the killer explicitly stated she was a woman. Femicide also does not mean a woman was killed because the only reason she died was because she was a woman.
Or the motivations are multiple. They're all intricately linked with one another. And so it's not just simply sexual pleasure, there's a sense of power over women involved. That's what drives scums to rape, not mere sexual pleasure.
