What’s winning or losing got to do with? By refusing to commit, win or lose, to a peaceful transfer of power, he’s explicitly endorsing the idea that there’s nothing wrong with using violence to seize or maintain political power. This is the sort of rhetoric that leads directly to actions like those of those waterheads in Michigan.

But you see - that is exactly the problem. Your question is not framed with "win or lose" - but simply "will he commit to a peaceful transfer of power"?
When the question is asked that way (as the reporter did) it infers that he.loses the election.
It is a "when did you quit beating your wife" sort of question.
