We have DVRs and on demand now, but how many people can pretend way after the fact a sporting event is live even though it is hours old or days old by the time you watch it?
I cant do that. I cannot sit through a 3 hour game when it is not real time as it happens and pretend it is live as it happens.
Some people can, like going to see a movie that others have seen days before, but don't want the spoilers.
In sports that is not the same. I cant watch a post recorded game and pretend the end isn't decided.
If I miss a game while it is in real time, I simply watch the highlights in the news. But I am not going to expect my friends to not spoil the plot if I didn't watch it when it happened. IT ISN'T A MOVIE.
It is like getting upset over movies about D-Day or Titanic. WE ALREADY KNOW! And with sports, once the game is over, no matter who wins that too is recorded. There is no way to spoil reality. All you can do is watch the highlights.
I simply do not get those who can and do watch post recorded sports and treat it like the ending isn't determined as if they were watching it in real time.
If it was a really good game there may have been some plays you missed. Of course you know the end result but you probably didn't see everything that happened on the screen even with instant replay.
What's weird is that you LIVE in the 80s. Your whole life is a loop of reruns and this is what gets your panties in a twist.
