One of my sons has a friend who hunts boar with only a knife. Lurks in trees and drops on them. That isn't stupid, that's psycho.
I had an uncle who used to hunt with a bow and arrows. He surprised a bear one time but didn't get his .45 wheel gun out in time to kill said bear. He had put an arrow (fatal) in it, but it didn't acknowledge death until it was at his feet. He said he crapped his pants when he couldn't get the holster's strap off the gun fast enough.
