It was, PERIOD! If those same cops had tried to stop me, there is a higher probability I wouldn't have ended up on the ground, much less with a knee on my neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds.
Both the theatre shooter, and and Dillan Roof murdered several people and had weapons, and both of them made it to jail, and the cops even bought Roof a burger on the way back to the station. The call that lead to Floyd's death was an alleged fake bill. It is possible he didn't even know it was fake. But even if he knew, he had no weapon, and they had no right to murder him over that.
It is NOT handwringing or political correctness. America has a systemic inequality problem in policing. Blacks and other minorities are at far higher risk of injury or death when interacting with police than whites. Even if blacks make it to jail, they are on average charged more harshly and sentenced more harshly and fined more harshly than a white person who commits a similar crime.
