I don't see anything decent in killing an innocent animal that hasn't threatened you in any way. If the animal is a threat to your wellbeing, like a bear running towards you, for instance, then it's OK. But killing animals for sports - that's not decency, that's cowardice.
Are you a strict vegitarian? If not - you are a hypocrite.
I don't hunt for "sport".
I have a chest freezer FULL of venison to prove it.
Furthermore - hunters are currently the ONLY check on deer herd size - and here in Michigan there simply are not enough hunters. Consequently the deer herd is swollen and communicable diseases are beginning to kill off the herds. Eastern Equine Encephelitis, Chronic Wasting Disease and Blue Tongue disease are starting to take hold. This will likely put off hunters from hunting - causing a spiral in diseased deer.
This is real life - not that Bambi cartoon.
There is no "Old Age Home" for sick and crippled deer.
In your dream scenario - a deer can starve to death, or be torn apart by wolves (the wolves would be the beneficiary of nobody hunting).
Or - they can get a bullet.
Personally I would rather my own death quick.. I would rather not even see it coming.
