This. Big time. People are willing to risk everything because they have nothing. People want to destroy society because they're going nowhere in society. If you want people to care about society and the people around them, they have to feel secure and right now, they don't.
Unfortunately, economically, we've been pushing more and more to the right and things have gotten worse and worse because of it. Biden is president now so I don't see things getting too much worse, but unless they get rid of the filibuster or Mitch starts making some concessions, we're not going to make any changes for the better, either. Not to mention, Biden is way too much of a centrist to make the kind of radical changes our economy needs.
