I have a feeling “ask and it shall be given you” had been invented long, long, before jesus, probably around the time when hunter gatherers first started to congregate periodically at ceremonial centers, before they got serious about agriculture and stationary settlement, at least 12,000 years ago.
Jesus was just unlucky enough to be tagged by more gullible and senseless of posterity with responsibility for that most damnable of invention when in fact that contagion had been in circulation since time immemorial.
