Religion has been claimed to help many people with all sorts of things too. It's not a cure, just a temporary trick of the mind.
You're extremely young. It's obvious.
Well, if you took a look at the link I provided, you'd see why it costed so much. People with "mental illnesses" are just crying out for help, yet you don't want to understand them, you're just too goddamn proud. Just because you have a degree in psychology, doesn't make your opinions about the matter more validated. This method is based on scientific fact, it isn't dogma.
I'm 21, like that means anything though. I'm a highly self-aware, attentive and deeply empathetic individual.
