Either way, cases have been falling in Texas since March the 2nd, when the lockdown and mask mandate was lifted. Perhaps not as dramatically as that article by Foundation for Economic Education would lead you to believe, but they are definitely not increasing.

That is just childish. Did you never for a moment consider that although the mandate for masks and social distancing is removed that people will continue to do both anyway? To protect themselves and their nearest and dearest? Did that penny never drop into your cranium and rattle around in it's new spacious environment?

Well, people do listen to what their governments tell them to do, even if it is obviously stupid. People in the USA listened to Andrew Cuomo recommending them to put COVID patients into nursing homes not to overwhelm the hospitals. And around 30'000 people in Croatia went to a massive gathering, organized by the Croatian government, in Vukovar, to celebrate Vukovar Masacre, leading to a spike in COVID cases and deaths.

If politics was taken out of the equation, I wonder if all this anti-mask, anti lockdown sentiment would be a thing? Trump caused so much unnecessary political spin, in dealing with a medical issue.

I think it would be even more popular. If there had been no Trump, people who are anti-mask and anti-lockdown would not be accused of Trumpism.
