The statistics say that it is more likely that having a gun in your home is much more likely to kill yourself or a member of your family (most likely suicide, but possibly accident or murder) than a criminal.
I am not anti-gun, but without a good reason, I wouldn't have one in my home. I might use one at a range, however.
That statistic is designed to be misleading.
It's like saying that you are more likely to drown if you have water.
Pretty unlikely in the middle of the Sahara.

If somebody is going to end their life - they'll find a way. As long as they don't take anyone with them - I say it's their right.
A gun is as good a way as any - and better than many.

They add suicides, and justified shootings into the mix to inflate their numbers.
Honesty just isn't their thing.
Well, even with suicides, justifiables, and even unintentionals removed, the number is still alarmingly high.
Or perhaps, in Biker’s world, 13,661 annually is just not a number high enough to get out of bed for.
And before anyone asks what would be a sufficiently low number, well, this Wikipedia page has a table of countries by gun homicide rates. One of the sortable columns is the rate of homicides. Sort that column from highest to lowest. The first one (besides the US) that you think you’d be reasonably safe if you just walked the city streets with no itinerary and no guide, that’s the sort of rate to go for. Then again, I wouldn’t put it past Biker to say he’d be fine walking the streets of El Salvador, with its stupefyingly high murder rates.
Punk --- don't suppose you know my world.
.....
Explain then why the anti gun faction isn't happy with that 13,661 number. It's more accurate.
But you embrace the lies - don'tcha??
