In my 54 years of witnessing interventions and conflict, the only conclusion I can come to, considering modern weapons and technology are that humans regardless are tribal.
The mantra sold by both political parties in America has been "endless wars" and "global stability". It cannot be a choice between "world police" or "isolationism". Humans don't work like that, regardless of party, friend or foe.
The ultimate doomsday is still global, in that both east and west, friend and foe, open state vs closed state, everyone has nukes. At what point do humans realize if our species is to survive, it cannot be an "us vs them" mentality?
