When we talk on the phone and she brings up a Fox story and then we discuss it, she will often change her mind when I point out errors or question the details/positions. The next time we talk, and the same issues are brought up, she's back to believing what Fox originally stated.
Bottom line, if you only take in one news source, the Fox viewers can believe and be indoctrinated. She's old and frightened of the world and change. Unfortunately she also votes, every time, straight down the Fox party line.
I think you hit all the pertinent points here. There are now millions of Americans who fit this description, many of whom were once somewhat centrist. Lots of them voted for Clinton and Obama. When one media outlet claims to be the only source of real news, charges all others as being extremely biased, then feeds it's viewers a steady stream of extreme biased information, it's a perfect storm of mass indoctrination. Their mantra is facts don't matter and you can say anything you want; no one will stop you.
