A limestone bluff endures hot sun, thick ice, heavy rain, and carbon acid from the nearby forest floor for thousands of years. After six months of tremors, the New Madrid fault makes an epic slip. Shock waves flow across north Arkansas to the Boston Mountains. Pieces of the bluff break free and fall. Some lodge on the hillside.
