You take the freedom to do anything from eating pork to robbing caravans to working as a thug to working as a saint.(Snipped the bits not relevant to this reply.)
In judgement day you get trialed for what you did in the test; if you pass you go to paradise; if you fail you go to hell permanently.
But you implied that the pre-Islam Arabs were bad for burying their daughters alive (a sentiment with which I agree). What I’m wondering is why Allah didn’t reveal the Quran earlier. He had to know know that burying girls alive was a wrong thing, so why did he just sit back and allow it to continue for more than six millennia?

Because that's how a real test is like if your tester is neither playing games with you nor joking around with you.
Didn't the nomads of Arabia know that burying little girls is wrong? didn't they cry when they saw it?
Just like the Quran says about humanity:
Quote:Sura 90, The Quran:
https://quran.com/90:11?font=v1&translations=131%2C20
(4) Indeed, We have created humankind in ˹constant˺ struggle.
(5) Do they think that no one has power over them,
(6) boasting, “I have wasted enormous wealth!”?
(7) Do they think that no one sees them?
(8) Have We not given them two eyes,
(9) a tongue, and two lips;
(10) and shown them the two ways ˹of right and wrong˺?
(11) If only they had attempted the challenging path ˹of goodness instead˺!
(12) And what will make you realize what ˹attempting˺ the challenging path is?
(13) It is to free a slave,
(14) Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
(15) to an orphaned relative
(16) or to a poor person in distress,
(17) And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.
Ancient Arabs didn't have the Quran, but they had eyes, tongues, lips, they had brains to recognize what is right and what is wrong.
Humans are the ones who banned charities.
God is not our babysitter. God has mercy by sending revelations like the Quran and the bible before Rome destroy it.
Everything is meant to be; the test is meant to be like this; we already have brains, emotions, tongues, ears, eyes.
