Could have just stopped with this - as it's the only reason you hold the position you do. Nothing to do with canadians specifically, nothing to do with the west generally. Nothing to do with hypocrisy or any commitment to the basic humanity of other people or whatever cruelty they suffer or suffered. Nothing at all to do with rehabilitating a criminal or preventing crime.

The pure mindlessness of it, and the attempt to cloud your shame with batshit rationalizations, is what really sticks out. Ultimately, this is why a thread about how any given set of superstitious utterences are false and another set true is pointless. Let's assume that you've got the fairy tale right. That there is a god, your god, not the other guys gods, certainly not the god of hadith, and definitely the god that told you to chop off a hand.
