The universe doesn't exist for "you". It doesn't care about you, it isn't your daddy, and it is a place inhospitable for life except for some rare planets, and even then life has to evolve to thrive in that niche.
The universe doesn't care what your character is, and evolution is a process that says that survival and reproduction results in continued existence for a species.
Most of the bible doesn't say that life is a test for getting into heaven. It says that life was the intention, but that life was supposed to be a paradise, and was corrupted. Suffering is a result of a corrupted world, and God can't wait to destroy the whole creation and create a new "physical" paradise. It was only Paul who believed that the next life was spiritual and not physical.
