Here is the etymology of Muhammad's name:

Some names are "adjectives", others are names of famous "landmarks/monuments", others are "actions" ! just like the adjective "Mohammed/Muhammed", which means "The Praiseworthy".
And, Mohammed was mentioned in the bible, it haunted some Chritian fanatic monks even to say that Mohammed is the antichrist:
