As for me I am reminded that after recieving a vision, Thomas Aquinas said that all his works were as straw. IDK, having experienced the mystical myself I can say they have a self-evident veracity that is similar to laws of thought; however, they were never strong enough to prompt a major lifestyle change. Nevertheless I occationally reflect on them to put things into perspective. For example, one of my experiences centers around an intuitive acceptance of the paradox that my life is both cosmicly insignificant and yet having vital import. Perhaps this is a bit like contemplating my "true nature" as a microcosom, which is a very common hermetic notion.
@Leonardo17, I do not think people who appreciate mysticism, not as woo or nonsense, but as a way of exploring and relating to the unknowable,...such people will never be a high percentage of the religious because religion is about communal worship and mysticism is very private.
