A medium-size grocery store (Hy Vee) is 1.5 miles and downtown is just over one mile, and so, some small-scale purchasing options there.
And, so, if gas hits $10/gallon, I could start walking more, although, my wife & children won't be thrilled. How about you? If gas prices double or triple, food, clothing and commodities will likely surge in price, also, but what will life be like?
My present vehicle gets 34+ miles per gallon and I drive less than 70 miles each week. Even if food and commodity prices go up, I've always lived frugally. My lifestyle is not likely to change.
