As I have posted before (and, will post again), it is (at least in my opinion) the case that History will judge Trump's control over the Republican party to have been superfluous, even meaningless. He did not control the Republican Party, rather, it is they who controlled him, namely, powerful Republican Senators. Why? Because, Trump, ever the quid pro quo guru, gave the Republican leadership exactly what they wanted, a wagon train of Federalist appointed federal judges, including, three SCOTUS justices. This is why they tolerated his antics, and will tolerate him again, if he is able to maintain his health.
