I think the rules need to be updated to reflect the actual policy as you have described it to me. I made sure to read the rules before my first post as I didn't want to break any rules.
The rules say:
"Quoting other members of the forum inaccurately is against the rules. Any changes in the format of a quote must be called out by the poster with a note (i.e. "bold mine"). "
I made no format change.
Nothing I said was inaccurate (I think).
I noted that what I posted was a part.

Can you please answer my question: did I break the rules on that post in question? Like if someone posts a book, do I have to quote the whole book? It seems from the rules that quoting a slice would be OK, so long as it was noted (which I did)...I'm so confused.
