If you want to talk about pushing "radical" policies, there were House Dems (Jayapal) suggesting Biden enact the BBB by executive fiat because it couldn't pass Congress.
What makes them "lunatics"? The recent Dobbs decision didn't make abortion illegal, it just made it a state issue. Also, the MS abortion law was literally on par with France.
