At very least, I can see a split ticket with Trump running as a third party candidate. If another republican candidate loses the cult-like Trump following, they can't win anything.
And that doesn't even consider the age group polling. Gen Z loathes Trump, baby boomers love him. As time passes and nature takes its course, there will be more gen Z voters and fewer baby boomer voters. My kids are gen z and they're just baffled by the idea of being against homosexuality but the republican party is specifically hostile to LGBT people; it's part of the party platform. Gen z is pro-choice and republicans aren't. Gen z wants an economy that is more beneficial to young people and students and poor people but the republicans just want more trickle down.
The republican party is either going to have to make drastic changes or they won't be able to hang onto power for more than a few more years.
This baby boomer absolutely detests the chump, and everything he stands for. Sadly, a lot of boomers do fit your assessment.
