I doubt he would be able to sink DeSantis if he ran as an independent. I mean he would try it. But it would not work.

I think die-hard Trumpeteers would vote for him even as an [Ind], and split the right-wing vote, much the same dynamic as Nader/Gore in 2000 [D] or Perot/Bush [R] in 1992. It's not about what Trump would do, but rather about what right-wing voters would do.
