Of course he didnt run the wires to the rest of the room. He probably ran out of wattage potential room on the circuit and he knew that he would have to run another load to feed the rest.

Then again, if your house is old, then I remind you they didnt have much use for electricity, as we do now, back in the 50's.

For me to run it for you I would need a place to crash... you are in Raleigh?
