What has Christianity truly contributed to humanity

According to the Catholic Church, every mortal sin that is unrepented of until death earns you a place in eternal hell-fire. 

I didnt ask what the RCC thinks, but what YOU think. You can think, for yourself, cant you?
Do you agree with the RCC that talking bad about someone else warrants eternal torture?

But all that aside, defamation, slander etc is unacceptable even in some courts of law.

And what is the punishment, anywhere on the planet? Eternal torture? Do you think the "worldly" punishments for talking bad about another person are warranted?
