You make a good point. But pleasure or not, smoking cigarettes helps maintain my sanity, and also, masturbation is still pleasurable no matter what.
But if you lost the ability to feel pleasure in those activities, or if you were prevented from doing them (say you were in a torture camp) then death becomes a better option, yes?
For some people at some point suicide is preferable to a life of misery. It's tragic but true.
