Likely intentional, fully understanding their clients guilt. He was going to lose either way, but this way he gets to bitch impotently about a judge whereas the other way would have had actual magats convicting him - and that's gg for the brand.
In the back of my mind I was considering that those jurors would be in the same possibly life-threatening situation as the judge. Better off without jurors, in this environment.
