I see the Republicans have nominated Scalise for Speaker. This sets up an interesting, but admittedly far-fetched scenario.
Scalise is disliked - sometimes vehemently so - by at least 99 Republican and all Democratic House members. He needs 217 votes from the entire House to be elected. If just 5 Republicans cross the aisle and vote for the Democratic nominee (certain to be Hakeem Jeffries), you could end up with a Republican majority House led by a Democratic Speaker.
The odds of this happening are somewhere between ‘none’ and ‘have you lost your fucking mind, Boru?’, in no small part because any defecting Republicans would be almost guaranteed to lose their committee seats and their next election.
Fun to think about, though.
