I think the situation in Israel and Palestine is messed up.
Both sides have their share of blame into how things are right now.... not to mention the seemingly unconditional support that Israel gets from the US and how the original jew settlement scheme was started by the British.
As it is right now, people live in that region. People with two related but different religions. Either they learn to live together, or one side annihilates the other, or both sides collapse.
What is the ideal outcome?
From a humanitarian point of view, I'd say that everyone learns to live together. Stop war, stop conflict. Israel should stop tretating people in the country differently and rather treat them as people, not as "infidels", or whatever.... and the same needs doing from the Islamic side. Israel could be the beacon of hope for a united humanity regardless of religion... but that's not what we see...
The US's support of Israel suggests that the conflict's direction will be towards Israel taking over palestinian territories with little care for the Muslim populations. As was shown on a map earlier in this thread, there is a great Islamic population in the vicinity and that represents a virtually never-ending source of people to fight on the Palestinian's behalf, thus leading to a never ending conflict, war forever. Sadly, I think this is the more likely scenario.
The support from the US is also there, it seems, because Palestine gets a lot of help from Iran - Iran recognizes that Palestine is its own country and rejects the two-state solution.... and we know how much the US and the Iranian regime get along.
