The democrats are like that Michael Jackson popcorn meme while the gop shows its ridiculousness. They could choose to back a GOP candidate just to stick a finger in the eye of the clowns in the gop, but they reap no advantage. I'm not sure rank and file republicans even care about the speakership. No meaningful legislation has come from the GOP in at least 3 congressional cycles. They just want to see memes and soundbites that own the libs. The gop base is anything but sophisticated.
