Especially with the M-16/AR-15 setup of a ring in the back, which eases the elevation issues in a very natural manner contrasted against open-v sights, which is what I learnt on as a boy.
It's also a very easy rifle to dial in.
The kid was probably breathing hot.
He had just been interrupted by a cop and likely got his shots off in too much of a hurry.
