Even them will not admit to supporting fascists policies I think. Enacting them without explicitly naming them is another thing though... To be frank if fascism can take root in Poland, country so affected by it in the past, it can take root everywhere.

Such national mythos certainly does not help with immunization to fascism and I think it even promotes certain complacency. However to continue your analogy US might be babe in the woods but countries like Poland, Hungary, France, Russia or Germany are adults and yet they still are getting lost in the same woods.

We're terrified of a system that has been dead for thirty years, while we embrace a system that we not only claim to have killed, but which is still alive.

Financial elites and robber barons have all the reasons in the world to scare people with "communism" and label everything that they don't like as "communism". By the same token they don't exactly have such interest when it comes to fascism - big business in Germany did not exactly wept when Hitler came to power.
