It has a gold rating of "plays with tweaks", but the suggested tweaks are many and varied so it doesn't fill me with the greatest confidence (being still basically a Linux noob and preferring the ultimate proton rating of Platinum "Runs perfectly out of the box", which has been the case for the two games I've tried so far in Linux, Stardew Valley and Coral Island.)
So yeah, not sure about this... I might try it on console but probably not on Steam. I have a PS4 and an XBox One, so could go with either.
Read down the comments. There's usually just one or two tweaks that will fix most any specific game. And, sometimes, a tweak that gets your new game going will also fix one that's been dead in the water.
They're also really slow at adjusting those Platinum/Gold ratings. Most Gold games work for me, in base Debian, with no tweaks. Some platinum games need more tweaks than some of the gold titles.
Regardless, there usually someone in the comments who's tweak will work for you. You can also select a specific proton version if the latest version doesn't work. I've fixed many a game just doing that.
Thank you, I'll bear that all in mind. I guess what's the worst that could happen? since I do have a backup disk image of the linux partition and a timeshift backup also, just never restored to them yet so far, and have been so used to Linux running along seamlessly without any problems that I didn't want to tempt fate.
There is another issue I have though, that I wonder if I could pick your brain about? Steam's "Remote Play" doesn't work for me in Linux, does it for you? It just could not receive (or, I think, send) broadcasts. So that means I'm stuck playing just one game, Dysmantle - which uses Remote Play for (a virtual) local co-op - in Windows where Remote Play works fine. There's no problem with normal multiplayer in games for me, but Remote Play seems dead in the water.
