I allege that a certain type of man is dangerous in this situation - deviants, perverts, sexual assaulters - and that giving them legal protection to insert themselves into areas where women are at a high risk is not sound policy.

Oh, so that's your problem. Well, good news: policies that allow trans women into women's bathrooms won't actually give them legal protection to sexually assault women. For one thing, sexual assault, whether or not it happens in a restroom or not, is still illegal, and "I identify as a woman, so I belong in there sexually assaulting women" is simply not a defense anyone, even the most "woke" person will entertain. 

And, frankly, your unspoken assumption that someone inclined to sexually assault women would only find a way to do so if the law allowed certain penis-bearing people to do so, is false. This is the testimony of a woman who was actually assaulted in a women's restroom by a man. And the man didn't pretend to be a woman, and they didn't have gender-neutral or trans-friendly restrooms. They just had a clearly marked women's room and a man willing to just ignore that, barge in, and fulfill his depraved desires.
