It doesn't seem logical that variations in quality leading to an unsafe dose when an unsafe dose would be more than a thousand times the quantity of a safe dose, is reasonable. It's like thinking factory mass production of three inch long hex bolts will produce some that are 25 feet long.
And for the record, the quantity of mercury is irrelevant. It's like being worried dabout the amount of chlorine you're putting on your fries when you salt them. Thimerosol is a mercury compound, it does not have the same effects as mercury.
