To sum up
1. It's easy not to be an asshole at work your choice to be an asshole was just that and any consequences that follow is 100% on you.
2. Speech is enough you're free to say what you want, but you're not free from the consequences
3. Any responsible boss will fire someone displaying said behavior and if he doesn't then you need to find someone who will, and you should mark your boss too for allowing this kind of stuff to go down in his workplace.
4. It never has to move to level of harassment to report them words are enough
5. It's not childish or dramatic to report a colleague for asshole behavior. No you don't have to ignore it nor are you in any way compelled to negotiate this asshole he's in the wrong here not you.
So pretty much the opposite of what this knob heads been saying
