I would be curious as to why you would wish to wonder about the reasons in the first place. I suspect that in the case of black people, you don't want to believe that they're more prone to criminality (I'm not saying they are) and so to you, there must surely be some other factor, a factor that would apply to anyone. 

This is simply a suggestion: What if it is simply the case that black people are wired differently and react differently to things? I'm not saying this is the case, however I've seen many videos of a black person being calmly questioned by the police only to suddenly turn aggressive, which I can imagine would cause some people to conclude that they are more troublesome by nature. That may not be true but some may think that after seeing this play out multiple times. 

Is it really so painful to accept the possibility that they're different? I'm not saying they are, I'm just asking you would it be so difficult to accept it, if it was the case.

More lazy racist stereotyping, what's painful is watching you trying to pretend you're not an odious racist. Now do please explain what role you believe melanin plays in criminal tendencies? Don't forget to offer citations, and objective evidence, and not the rhetoric you keep posting "I once saw etc etc" "most people believe etc etc"...that's just vapid rhetoric.

I mean he literally said he doesn't care if you find stats or evidence that contradicts/proves him wrong him, it won't change his opinion.

Why anyone would continue to converse with him is beyond me.
